Garda Appointments Quality Assurance and Selection Governance Committee

The Committee was established in 2016 to prepare for the commencement of the Authority’s functions in relation to appointments in the Garda Síochána and related matters, including to oversee the development of the Authority’s selection processes for the appointment of persons to the senior Garda ranks.

Since 2017, the Committee has provided governance and quality assurance with regard to the Authority’s selection competitions undertaken for appointment to the ranks of Assistant Commissioner, Chief Superintendent and Superintendent in the Garda Síochána.
