Policing Authority welcomes the establishment of a Joint Garda Síochána and PSNI Investigation team

The Policing Authority welcomes the establishment of a Joint Garda Síochána and PSNI Investigation team today in relation to the attacks on Quinn Industrial Holdings. This significant initiative will allow the authorities to exchange evidence and intelligence during the course of the investigation. The Authority has kept appraised of developments and is very pleased that the Joint Investigation Team is now in place.

In addition to their horrific impact on Mr Lunney, his family and QIH, the Authority is mindful that the recent attacks presented real risks to public confidence in policing. Today’s announcement and the police work which has been ongoing and will continue, will help to reassure the community in the border area and beyond and enhance confidence. The establishment of the Joint Investigation Team, the first in which the Garda Síochána has taken part, recognises the importance of this investigation and highlights the appropriate level of attention this serious issue has been receiving and continues to receive from both the Garda Síochána and the PSNI.
