Selection Competition for Appointment to Superintendent in the Garda Síochána
The Policing Authority intends to hold a selection competition for the purpose of appointing persons to the rank of Superintendent in the Garda Síochána. Applications are invited from eligible persons who wish to be considered for appointment to this rank.
Eligibility to apply for this Selection Competition
The following persons are eligible to apply for a competition for appointment to the rank of Chief Superintendent in the Garda Síochána:
A member of the Garda Síochána not below the rank of Inspector who has served not less than 2 years in that rank on the date on which the competition commences, i.e. 17 May 2022; or
A member of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) not below the rank of Inspector who has served not less than 2 years in that rank on the date on which the competition commences, i.e. 17 May 2022.

This competition will be undertaken in accordance with the “Policing Authority’s Statement of Practice for the conduct of a selection competition for the rank of Superintendent in the Garda Síochána 2022” and the “Garda Síochána (Appointments to the ranks of Assistant Commissioner, Chief Superintendent and Superintendent) Regulations 2016”.
